Research and STEM activities
Worked on a project building recombinant DNA constructs and observing the resulting phenotype when these were transformed into yeast in various growth conditions as an intern in the Industrial Biosciences Division of DuPont in 2015...Has been studying the mechanisms of long non-coding RNA function with Professor Mitchell Guttman since the summer of her sophomore year, originally as an Amgen Scholar; most recently, she has studied the mechanisms of the lncRNA Xist, which is responsible for X-chromosome silencing in female mammalian cells during development, using synthetic biology approaches...Analyzed data to help select the landing site for the Mars InSight lander, set to launch in 2018, during a 2013 SURF at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory...Analyzed satellite data to track environmental change at the NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, Calif. for two summer in high school.
