Research and STEM activities
Currently working on making mutations to the prolyl tRNA synthetase to accomodate the different side chains of non-canonical amino acids in order to explore new protein sequence space for the engineering of improved insulin variants as a William N. Lacey SURF fellow in David Tirrell's lab.  Her work was covered in an article on Caltech.edu: https://www.caltech.edu/news/tricking-enzyme-making-better-insulin-48806) ...Worked on the optimization of a protein catalyzed capture agent against an oncogenic gene as a Margaret Leighton SURF fellow in Jim Heath's lab the summer after her freshman year.

A two-sport athlete for all four years of high school, participating in both basketball and swimming…Varsity and JV captain…Reached the CIF finals and participated in the state tournament as a senior...Named All-League...Member of the California Scholarship Federation and Nationa Honor Society...A National Merit Commended Student and AP Scholar with Distinction.
