Kannan Surpasses Season High in Goals Against Whittier

PASADENA, Calif. (Apr. 11, 2015) – Junior Soumya Kannan (Palo Alto, Calif. /  Henry M Gunn) surpassed last season's goal tally with at least three games remaining as she scored against Whittier College on Saturday morning.

Caltech also bade farewell to its five graduating seniors in Monica Enlow (Suwanee, Ga. / North Gwinnett), Liz Lawler (Portland, Ore. / Jesuit), Shalini Majumdar (Orinda, Calif. / Miramonte), Emily Shih (Rockville, Md. / Montgomery Blair) and Jing Xu (Mountain View, Calif. / Los Altos) as they played their final home game.

The Poets held the Beavers scoreless over the first two quarters, leading 11-0 before Caltech got on the board in the third.  Both defenses locked down in the fourth quarter, not allowing a single goal for the 12-1 final score line.  Whittier improves to 16-14 overall and 4-2 in the SCIAC while Caltech is now 0-16 (0-6).

Head Coach Pat Beemer and the Beavers will cross the 110 Freeway to take on Occidental College (1-23, 0-6) on Wednesday, Apr. 12.
