CLAREMONT, Calif. (Oct. 4, 2019) – The Caltech women's volleyball team had perhaps its toughest test of the season Friday evening at nationally-ranked No. 4 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges.
Sophomore outside hitter Sydney Richardson (Granite Bay, Calif. / Roseville) was a bright spot for the Beavers against one of the SCIAC's toughest teams on paper. Richardson led the way with eight kills and a .350 percentage thanks to just one error in 20 attempts. Senior Ellie Walker (Minneapolis, Minn. / Blake School) split time at setter with junior starter Krystyna Maruszko (Redondo Beach, Calif. / Marymount) as each player finished the match with nine and eight assists respectively. Defensively, sophomore libero Megan Wang (Henderson, Nev. / Advanced Technologies Academy) fronted the Beavers with 11 digs.
Head Coach Tom Gardner and the Beavers will turn around the next day to face off with the University of La Verne at home on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m.
