PASADENA (Sept. 21, 2019) – The Caltech volleyball team felt the full effects of Friday's SCIAC win in Saturday's defeat at the hands of host Chapman University.
While the Beavers' aggressive nature from the victory over Whittier College the previous day remained, they were unable to find their footing and create the momentum necessary to translate towards the set score. Caltech came closest to winning a set in the third, at one point leading Chapman, 16-15. Sophomore Sydney Richardson (Granite Bay, Calif. / Roseville) led the Beavers with nine kills in three sets while junior setter Krystyna Maruszko (Redondo Beach, Calif. / Marymount) had 17 assists and sophomore libero Megan Wang (Henderson, Nev. / Advanced Technologies Academy) finished the match with 18 total digs.
Head Coach Tom Gardner and the Beavers will look to make it 2-1 in SCIAC games this season on Friday, Sept. 28 when they host Pomona-Pitzer Colleges at 7 p.m.
