LANCASTER, Calif. (Sept. 10, 2019) – The Caltech women's volleyball team made it three-consecutive wins for the first time since 2003 when they defeated West Coast Baptist College, 3-0, on Tuesday evening.
Freshman outside hitter Dallas Taylor (Phoenix, Ariz. / Saguaro) had a standout match with eight kills to go along with an 80-percent success rate on attacks. Taylor, who featured in all three sets, also had a nice service ace to put a bow on the first set. Sophomores Alison Noyes (Falmouth, Maine / Falmouth) and Sydney Richardson (Granite Bay, Calif. / Roseville) also contributed to the relenteless Caltech attack with six kills apiece while Richardson added one solo block and assisted block.
The Beavers dominated the match from start to finish and increasingly asserted themselves as each set transpired. Caltech dug out of an early hole in the first set, but took the lead at 13-12 thanks to a bad set from the home team and never looked back. The Beavers went on to drop the first point of the second set, but quickly regained the upper hand and carried a lead for the rest of the match.
Head Coach Tom Gardner and the Beavers will look to make it four-straight when they return home on Friday, Sept. 13 to host Marymount California University at 6 p.m.
