LOS ANGELES (Oct. 27, 2018) – The Caltech volleyball team concluded the 2018 season on Saturday at Occidental College, where a few records were both set and solidified.
Freshman libero Megan Wang (Henderson, Nev. / Advanced Technologies Academy) added eight digs to her season total, and with 425 digs became the Beavers' single-season record holder by a 143-dig margin while also helping the team to a cumulative 1,335-dig record. Classmate Allie Frymire (Dallas, Texas / Greenhill) similarly led the Beavers with 22 assists, and her 497 season total puts her second on the team's single-season list while also leading the Beavers to 800 total assists for another team record (and a 104-assist margin). Junior Lauren Li (Bellaire, Texas / Bellaire) managed seven kills to bring her total to an even 200 on the season, marking the first time any Caltech player has hit the 200-kill plateau and earning her the single-season kills record while moving into third in all-time kills.
Head Coach Tom Gardner and the Beavers finish the 2018 season having improved as a team in every statistical category and with a few key returns could be poised to take another step forward in 2019.
