Jamshidi, Little Lead Volleyball at No. 3 Cal Lu

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (Oct. 28, 2014) – Juniors Catherine Jamshidi (Burke, Va. / Lake Braddock School) and Amarise Little (Orlando, Fla. / Freedom) led the Caltech volleyball team with seven of the team's eight kills as the Beavers fell, 3-0, at No. 3 California Lutheran University on Tuesday night.

Cal Lu improves to 24-2 overall and 13-1 in the SCIAC while Caltech is now 1-20 (0-14).

The Beavers had their moments against their top-ranked SCIAC opponent, notching seven points in the first set and a match-best eight behind four kills in the second, but the Regals were on their game, overcoming four errors in the first set and recording a match-high .545 hitting percentage in the second set to sweep the match by scores of 25-7, 25-8 and 25-5.

Jamshidi tallied four kills, one assist and two digs while Little added three kills.  Junior Harinee Maiyuran (Irvine, Calif. / Arnold O. Beckman) notched the Beavers' other kill while junior Amy Hu (Rockville, Md. / Montgomery Blair) led the team with five assists and seven digs, her second-highest total of the season.

Head Coach Tom Gardner and the Beavers will host Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (17-9, 9-5) on Halloween this Friday, Oct. 31 at 7:30 p.m.
