PASADENA, CA – Heading into the Tuesday evenings contest with a two-match winning streak the Caltech women's volleyball was looking to continue their momentum.
However, Chapman put an end to those hopes with a 3-0 (25-6, 25-19, 25-10) win.
The Panthers came out strong offensively as they hit .520 as a team, with 13 kills on 25 attempts without committing an error, in the opeing stanza. Caltech responded well in the second set as they grabbed a 6-3 lead early in the frame. However, Chapman responded by scoring 14 of the next 19 points in taking a 17-11 edge. Caltech was able to chip away as they got their deficit down to 23-19 but they couldn't pull any closer than that four-point spread.
Chapman scored eight of the first 10 points to start the third set and never looked back as they swept the match.
Val Geiger had a match high 10 kills to lead the Panthers efforts. Setter Corrine Ostrovsky dished out 28 assists while tallying 10 digs to aid the visiting team's cause.
