PASADENA, CA – The Caltech women's volleyball team concluded the home portion of their schedule with a 3-0 (25-8, 25-13, 25-16) loss to La Verne on Tuesday evening.

The Leopards played spoiler on senior night from the first set. During the opening frame the visitors had 17 kills on 25 attempts with just two errors as they racked up a .600 hitting mark.
During the early portions of the second set the two teams traded points until a big scoring run by La Verne pushed the match's momentum toward the Leopards. Holding a 6-5 lead, the Leopard scored nine unanswered points en route to taking a commanding lead in the set and a 2-0 advantage in the match.
The first 24 points of the third set saw neither team hold a lead larger than two points until another spurt gave the Leopards control. With La Verne holding a 13-11 lead, the Leopard scored eight of the next 10 points to take a 21-13 lead and never look back in sweeping the match.
A well rounded La Verne helped them to the sweep as six different players had at least three kills for the visitors. Leading the way was Randi Taylor-Toomay who had a match high 10 kills.
The La Verne service effort was solid during the match as well as they tallied 15 service aces led by Morgan Donohue's five.
Caltech's most productive players was Catherine Jamshidi, who had eight kills and two block assits.
