PASADENA, Calif. – Anna Calmer tallied 10 kills and a .500 hitting percentage in leading LaVerne to a 3-0 (25-11, 25-3, 25-13) win over Caltech Tuesday evening in a SCIAC women's volleyball match at the Braun Athletic Center.
With the opening game tied at 5-5, the visitors scored seven straight points and never looked back in claiming a 1-0 lead in the match. LaVerne (11-7, 2-3 SCIAC) won 15 of the second game's first 16 points in taking a commanding advantage.
In the third game the home standing Beavers (1-12, 0-8 SCIAC) jumped out to a 5-1 edge on the strength of three Paige Logan kills. After a LaVerne timeout, the Leopards proceeded to score seven consecutive points and never let Caltech get closer than two points the rest of the game.
Caltech's offense was lead by Logan who posted her second double-digit kill effort of the season with 10. Ying Ying Tran had a team high 10 digs.
Calmer's also had a team high four aces in the winning effort. Chelsea Seight tied Tran for match high dig honors as she also recorded 10.
