Yao, Wang Lead Shorthanded Women's Tennis at No. 19 Redlands

REDLANDS, Calif. (Feb. 21, 2015) – The Caltech women's tennis team made significant strides in battling at No. 19 University of Redlands on Saturday morning, but fell 9-0.

The Beavers now sit at .500 with a 2-2 overall record and 0-2 mark in the SCIAC, while Redlands remains perfect at 3-0 (1-0).

With junior Monica Li (Boulder, Colo. / Fairview) unavailable, Caltech was forced to shuffle the lineup and create new doubles pairings, which fell 8-2, 8-3 and 8-2 across the three courts.  The Bulldogs carried the momentum into singles play, with only freshmen Grace Yao (La Palma, Calif. / Oxford Acad.) and Erin Wang (Auburn, Calif. / Del Oro) winning two games in a single set at #3 and #4, respectively.

Head Coach Mandy Gamble and the Beavers will host No. 9 Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (1-0, 1-0) on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 10:00 a.m.
