Kitto Named to SCIAC First-Team; Beavers Finish at League Championships

PASADENA, Calif. - Rebekah Kitto was named to the all-conference team as the Caltech women's tennis team's season came to an end this weekend at the SCIAC Championships.

Kitto became the first Beaver tennis player in four years to earn all-conference accolades. The last Caltech women's tennis player to earn all-conference honors was Chen Yee Liaw. Kitto was named to the first-team squad after posting a 5-2 record during SCIAC regular season matches while playing in the No. 1 singles slot. Currently she is ranked 19th the ITA west region rankings.

In addition to Kitto earning the individual honor, the Beaver squad earned the SCIAC Sportsmanship Award for the second consecutive season. All conference honors are voted on by the league's head coaches.

The Beavers played three matches during the two-day event that was hosted by Caltech. They opened with a championships with a 5-1 set-back against top seeded ClaremontMuddScripps on Friday morning before losing 8-1 to fourth seeded Whittier in the afternoon.

Caltech concluded the tournament by dropping a 7-2 decision to La Verne on Saturday afternoon.
