CLAREMONT, Calif. (Feb. 2, 2019) – Sophomore Krystin Brown (Lake Forest, Calif. / Trabuco Hills) qualified for her first NCAA West Regional in diving as Caltech women's swim & dive faced off against Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in the penultimate dual meet of the season on Saturday morning.
Brown posted an impressive 220.50 on six dives in the 3-meter competition to place second and notched a third-place finish on the 1m (218.50), while classmate Nerys Huffman (Broomfield, Colo. / Peak to Peak Charter School) also placed third on the 3m (215.70).
The 200 Free Relay team of seniors Brittany Percin (Lake Tahoe, Calif. / Stanford Online) and Gemma Takahashi (San Jose, Calif. / Leland) and freshmen Danica Adams (Novato, Calif. / UC Berkeley) and Isabel Swafford (Boise, Idaho / Boise) capped the day with a program-record 1:43.49 to place third against the defending SCIAC champions.
Percin and Adams each impressed individually as well. Percin won both the 100 and 200 Fly, recording the fourth-fastest time in the conference this season in the latter (2:10.14) as she looks to return to the podium following last season's second-place finish at the SCIAC Championships. Adams, meanwhile, took first in the 1650 Free in the second-fastest time in program history at 18:27.27, which ranks sixth in the conference and is the top non-Claremont consortium time on the board three weeks out from the championships.
Head Coach Andy Brabson and the Beavers close out the regular season at home against the University of La Verne on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 10:30 a.m.
