PASADENA (July 25, 2018) – The Caltech women's basketball team has unveiled its schedule for the 2018-19 season. This year's schedule features 13 home contests, five of which will come against non-league opponents.
The women will begin the season with a pair of exhibition games, first at the University of Antelope Valley on Nov. 10, then at home against Arizona's Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. The Beavers are then set to open the regular season at home with Bethesda University of Saturday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m before taking on the University of Dallas at 2 p.m. the following Wednesday.
The women's basketball team will embark on a weekend road trip to Santa Cruz where they will first battle Lewis & Clark College on Saturday, Nov. 24 in a rematch of last year's double-overtime slugfest. The following day will see the Beavers taking on Carleton College in Santa Cruz. The Beavers will end the month on Wednesday, Nov. 28 in the SCIAC opening game with California Lutheran University at 7 p.m.
Caltech will have five games on tap in December, beginning on Saturday, Dec. 1 when the Beavers travel to Pomona-Pitzer Colleges for a 5 p.m. game. The women's team will follow up with the first of two games against the University of St. Katherine, on Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. The Beavers hold a combined 3-0 record over the Firebirds over the last two years and will be looking to extend their winning streak this upcoming season. Caltech will then begin another weekend road trip, this time in the Pacific Northwest when they meet Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma on the 15th, followed by Puget Sound University the very next day. The Beavers will close December in a home clash with LIFE Pacific University on Dec. 20 at 2 p.m.
The final two months of the women's basketball season are packed with SCIAC collisions, beginning on Jan. 2 when the Beavers travel to the University of Redlands at 4 p.m. Caltech will follow up back in Pasadena in its first meeting with Occidental College on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 2 p.m. before going on the road for its next two games. The Beavers will first travel to the University of La Verne on Wed. Jan. 9 before taking on Whittier College that weekend. Caltech took down La Verne twice last year in Head Coach Bridgette Reyes' first season and will be looking to build on its winning streak against Leopards again this year. The women's team will then play its next four games at home, beginning on Monday, Jan. 14 against defending SCIAC regular season champions Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges before meeting defending SCIAC postseason tournament champions Chapman University just two days later. The annual Orange Out and Alumni Game is set for the ensuing weekend when Caltech hosts Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 5 p.m. The Beavers will close the four-game homestand with a second visit from the Firebirds on Wednesday, Jan. 23. The women's team will end January with rematches at Oxy and Cal Lutheran on Saturday the 26th and Wednesday the 30th respectively.
The Beavers are set for a five-game February where they will close out the season, beginning at home on Saturday, Feb. 2 in a rematch with Whittier set for 2 p.m. Caltech will next visit Chapman and CMS for games on Tuesday, Feb. 5 and Saturday, Feb. 9, before closing the season with two more home contests. The first game will come against La Verne on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m., with the final game happening against Redlands on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 5 p.m. on Senior Night. The SCIAC Postseason Tournament, if necessary will be contested on Thursday, Feb. 21 and Saturday, Feb. 23.
