If you had TIVO in your room, what is the TV show you set it for? Ghost Whisperer or Quantum Leap

If Hollywood was making a movie about you, who would play you and what would the name of the movie be? Parminder Nagra would play me and it would be titled To Mars and Beyond!

Tattoos?  Mars; because it’s amazing and I want to go there!

If you were a superhero, what would your hero name be and what would your power be? Celestial Wind; to be able to go into space without wearing a spacesuit.

If you found a magic lantern, complete with magic genie, what would your three wishes be?

1. For my family and me to be healthy and happy (of course!)

2. To become an astronaut and the first person on Mars

3. To be an inspiration to others (especially kids!)

What is the one invention that you wish you had been the person to invent? Airplane

Favorite athlete? Dara Torres.  She was/is so determined! She didn’t let her age keep her from participating in the Olympics AND she got nine medals!)

Favorite scientist? Marie Curie. I admire her persistence and the fact that she made huge strides for women in science.

Who is the person in your life that is the most responsible for helping you to be who you are today? There hasn’t been just one person; but my parents have definitely influenced who I am today. Their most significant contribution has been their encouragement and support of my dream of becoming an astronaut.

Favorite Quote? “It’s not who’s going to let me, it’s who’s going to stop me.” ~Ayn Rand

Why is math or science so you? Because math and science allow me to combine my love of logic, creativity, curiosity, and discipline.

What is your favorite time period in history? The Space Age (1957-1973); so many developments were made so quickly in the space industry as a result of competition and we haven’t been able to reach that pace (again) yet.

If you could meet anyone  who would you want to have coffee with? Neil Armstrong

Favorite family tradition? Celebrating Diwali (Indian festival of lights) with grandparents every year.

What makes you laugh so hard you can’t stop or you end up doubled over? The phrase “Negative Nelly”
