PASADENA, CA – In their last game of the season at the Braun Center the Caltech women's basketball team fell to new league foe Chapman 78-42 on Thursday evening.
The game was the final home contest for Caltech senior Sarah Wright. The native of Strongsville, OH leaves the program a four-year letterwinner and a two-time captain. She tied a career high with 15 points while grabbing four rebounds and recording three steals in 37 minutes.

Chapman came out with a pressing defense that aided in their offensive output. The visitors held a 15-2 edge in points off of turnovers in helping them build a 38-23 lead at intermission. Also during that first half the Panthers went 11-for-11 from the charity stripe to aid in the first half lead.
When the Beavers were able to break the Panthers defense, they shot the ball effectively. Caltech hit nine of their 20 attempts (45 percent) in the first half.
The Panthers continued to use their press effectively in the second half as they increased their lead. They held Caltech to seven made field goals while making 13 in assuring themselves of a top two finish in the regular season SCIAC standings.
The visitors also used a plus-12 rebounding advantage to held them translate into 16 second chance points.
In addition to Wright's solid game, first-year post player Grace Leishman grabbed a game best 11 rebounds for Caltech.
Kimi Takaoka had a game high 20 points to pace the Panthers offense.
Caltech has two road games left in the season. The Beavers travel to Whittier on Saturday before closing the season at ClaremontMuddScripps on Monday.
