THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- In the second of three SCIAC meets this season, the Beavers track and field team competed against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday afternoon.
Caltech had a handful of personal bests and changes in the schools all-time top 10 list during the meet.
Katherine Lai moved into the schools top top 10 during the 100 meter high hurdle event. The first-year finished the event in 19.21 to improve her personal best time by nearly three seconds in recording the eighth best time in Caltech history. Lai ran a 1:14.46 in the 400 meter hurdles which is the seventh best time ever among Beavers runners.
Jessica Swallow performed well during the field events. The senior finished third in the high jump (4' 9 3/4") and fourth in the triple jump (33' 9 1/4").
Paige Logan placed first against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Pomona-Pitzer in the shot put (36' 1 1/2") and discuss (110' 11") events.
During the men's portion of the meet, two Beavers improved on their marks that were already among the schools best. Luc Angel, who already had the 10th best jump at Caltech, improved his pole vault to 12' 7 1/2" in placing second overall at the meet.
Brice Nzeukou had his best ever throw in the javelin. The junior recorded a throw of 149' to moved into fifth place in school history. The throw improved his personal best by over five feet. Nzeukou finished tied for second overall in the high jump (5' 8 3/4").
