Track & Field Contingent Heads to Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif. -- Members of the Beavers track and field team competed at the 2012 Benny Brown Invitational hosted by Cal State Fullerton.

Ben Grabowski moved up the school's top 10 in the javelin. The first year now has the sixth best mark in Caltech history with a throw of 145'11" (Video).

Also competing in the men's meet for the Beavers were Eric Martin (800m), Jared Forte (800m), Alan Menezes (1500m), Andy Zucker (1500m) and Juan Adame (1500m). The group competing for the Beaver women was Stephanie Reynolds (800m), Juliette Becker (800m), Sarah Wright (throws) and Paige Logan (throws).

Wright set two season personal best in the high jump (4'8 1/4" - Video) and javelin (94'5"- Video). Martin ran the 800 in 1:58.66 which was her season best and just one second off the school's top 10 list.

Becker ran her season best time in the 800 as well by crossing the finish line in 2:37.88. In the 1500 meter run both Ademe (4:40) and Alan Menezes (4:11.4) had personal best marks in 2012.

Approximately 2,000 athletes competed in the event. During the event the American record in the 5000 meters was set for men 50 years and older as Ken Ernst ran a 15:34.62.
