LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The Caltech track and field squad started league meets on Saturday afternoon at Occidental College with dual meets against La Verne and Occidental.
Highlighting the afternoon for the Beavers was Stephanie Reynolds winning the 1500 meter run in 5:01.34. The first year's effort was 1.46 faster than Deanna Dupuy from Occidental. In addition to her top finish, her time is the fourth best mark in school history. Reynolds also moved into the school's top 10 in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:28.67.
Katherine Lai also put her name in the school's record books by running the 400 meter hurdles in 1:18.12 Her time places her eighth on the top 10 list.
A host of other Caltech athletes bettered their previous marks in the top 10. Sarah Wright improved her marks in the discus and hammer throws while Paige Logan and Jess Swallow improved in the hammer throw and high jump respectively. Lise Lee also improved her hammer throw.
Clara Eng moved up her previous best time in the 3000 meter steeplechase to 13:44.6 which is the sixth best time at Caltech.
Ben Grabowski, in his first league meet, threw the javelin 142'6" to pace ninth on the school's all-time list.
