CLAREMONT, Calif. -- During the Cal/Nevada Track and Field Championships Paige Logan re-set the school shot put record while Alex Lapides took top honors among NCAA Division III high jumpers.
The two-day event was hosted by ClaremontMuddScripps and featured over 20 schools from NCAA Division I, II and III.
During Sunday afternoon's womens shot put competition Logan threw 11.46 meters (37' 7 1/4") to re-set the school record by nearly a 12 inches. The first-year set the school mark twice on Sunday. One throw previous to her final and record setting attempt, Logan hurled the shot put 11.32 meters. Earlier this month she stepped into the record books with a throw of 11.17 meters (36' 7 3/4") during the first SCIAC meet of the season at Occidental College.
Lapides was the top NCAA Division III finisher in the high jump and seventh overall. On Saturday afternoon the senior cleared the bar at 1.90 meters (6' 2 3/4"). For his efforts he topped jumpers from Division I schools Long Beach State, Cal State Northridge and UC-Santa Barbara.
Also competing in the event for the Beavers was Juliette Becker. The first-year runner finished the 800 meter run in 2:34.97.
