Track and Field Competes at Rossi Relays; Individuals Move Into Record Books

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Members of the Beavers Track and Field squad took part in the 15th Annual Rossi Relays on Saturday afternoon. The meet featured teams from all three NCAA divisions and was hosted by ClaremontMuddScripps.

Defending SCIAC high jump champion Alex Lapides finished tied for fourth overall with a jump of 6-4. The senior was the top finisher among all competitors from NCAA Division II and III schools.

Juliette Becker ran a solid 3000 meter race as the freshman completed the seven-plus lap race in 11:37.17. In just her second collegiate track meet, the freshman's mark is the seventh best mark in Caltech history.

Jessica Swallow had an excellent first meet of the season during the triple jump competition. Swallow finished seventh overall with a distance of 32-7.50. During the high jump the junior cleared 4-9.75 which placed her tied for seventh overall and was less than two inches away from her personal best.

Mia Oviatt set a personal best in the high jump, clearing 4-4. The sophomore now has the eighth best jump in school history.

There were no team results for the meet.

The Beavers will next compete at Occidental College on March 5 in a SCIAC 4-way meet.
