Andy Brabson became the head coach for Caltech's men's and women's swimming and diving programs in September 2018, and since then has helped some of the program's exceptional athletes continue their evolution into standouts on the SCIAC and Division III level. In his first season in Pasadena, Brabson coached a trio of swimmers to the 2019 NCAA Division III National Championships in Greensboro, N.C., led the women's team to its best SCIAC finish in program history (sixth-place, 402 points) and helped his athletes to a whopping 18 new program records set in 2019 alone, including every women's relay record. With his second season on the horizon, Brabson will have a chance to keep both programs on the rise as he looks to integrate one of the deepest collective recruiting classes the program has ever seen.

Brabson came to Caltech following a five-year stint at Oberlin College as Aquatics Director & Head Swimming & Diving Coach where he rejuvenated the program to levels of success that have not been achieved in decades. The 2015 NCAC Women’s Swimming Coach of the Year, Brabson led the women's team to its highest finish of all-time at the NCAC Championship where they placed fourth overall in the best swimming conference in the country at the time.

Prior to arriving at Oberlin, Brabson served as an assistant coach at Hood College for four years where he helped the Blazers establish 23 new school records at the 2013 MAC Championship meet. He also had a standout Division III swimming career at Denison University. Some of Brabson's swimming accomplishments include being a two-time Honorable-Mention All-American, earning All-NCAC honors in the breaststroke in 2009, while serving as a team captain and active member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Brabson graduated with a degree in communications from Denison in 2010 and got an MBA from Hood College in 2018.
