Caltech Splits Meets Against Chapman

ORANGE, Calif. – On Sunday afternoon the women's swimming/diving squad fell to Chapman 156-43 while the men's posted a non-NCAA victory over the Panthers 98-91.

Misha Raffiee scored eight individual points in the 1650-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke races and 200-yard butterfly. The first-year swimmer placed second in the 1650 with a time of 23:27.9 during the third event of the day. In the backstroke event she placed third with a time of 2:43.54. Her fifth place finish in the butterfly (2:40.55) competition also contributed to the Beaver efforts

Hanna Dodd also scored individual points in multiple events. The Pasadena, Calif. native, placed third in the 50-yard freestyle (28.37) while finishing fourth in the 200-yard backstroke (2:51.82).

While the men's victory over Chapman doesn't count as an NCAA victory because the Panthers squad is a club team, the Beaver swimmers posted solid effort in multiple events.

Peter Buhler continued his strong junior season as he won both individual events he competed in. Buhler won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.96 then posted a first place time in the 200-yard backstroke (2:08.61).

Christian Rivas posted a pair of good swim in two distinctly different events. The sophomore finished second in the 1650-yard freestyle event (21:46.14) to earn the Beavers four team points. In the final individual of the day Rivas won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:27.77.

Chris Hallacy posted a pair of second place finishes which earned eight total points for Caltech. Hallacy finished behind Buhler in the 200-yard freestyle (2:07.33). In the 100-yard freestyle he touched the pad four seconds away from first place with a time of 54.65.
