The Caltech swimmers and divers kicked off the season this weekend with meets against Claremont-MuddScripps and La Verne.
CMS v. Caltech
Results vs. CMS
Against the defending conference champions, both the men's and
women's teams dropped their meets. In the men's meet CMS posted a
184-37 win while the CMS ladies recorded a 182-42 win over the
Beavers.
The Caltech divers started the season well as Peggy Allen and Jessica Swallow finished second and third respectively in the three-meter diving event. Timi Kosztin posted a third place finish in the one-meter diving competition.
Wade Hann-Caruthers was third in the three-meter diving event while posted a second place finish in the one-meter diving.
La Verne v. Caltech
The Beavers produced first places finishes in multiple events but couldn't quite pull enough points together to knock off the Leopards. LaVerne posted a 162.5-77.5 win in the men's meet while the women tallied a 143-77 win on Saturday afternoon.
Caltech's Justin Johnson posted wins in both the one-meter and three-meter diving competitions earning nine team points for each victory.
On the swimming side of the meet, Caltech got a victory in the 200-meter freestyle event as Peter Buhler swam the distance in 1:57.59.
For the Caltech women, Klavdia Zemlianova won the 50-yard freestyle by beating out team mate Brooklyn Schlany 27.17 to 28.34 for top honors in the event.
