EAGLE ROCK, Calif. (Oct. 9, 2019) – Junior Steven Csaposs (Davis, Calif. / Davis) scored a team-best five goals when the Caltech men's water polo team took on host Occidental College on Wedesday evening.
The Beavers looked to feed the junior center early and often, with three of his goals coming in the first quarter. Classmate Alex Janosi (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Dexter) dished on two of Csaposs' early goals while sophomore Alex Wang (Saratoga, Calif. / The Harker School) assisted on the other. As a result, Caltech entered the second quarter trailing Occidental by just one goal. Csaposs' final two strikes came in the fourth quarter on passes from juniors John Wang (Louisville, Ky. / Phillips Exeter Academy) and Nick Clausen (Clovis, Calif. / Clovis East).
Caltech also received two goals from freshman Max Bricken (Portland, Ore. / Westview) and one successful strike from junior Rahul Arun (Buffalo Grove, Ill. / Adlai E Stevenson). Senior Bradley Justice (El Cajon, Calif. / Grossmont) played the entire game in net for the Beavers and made four saves in the face of a relentless Occidental attack.
Head Coach Jon Bonafede and the Beavers will kick off a three-game homestand beginning on Saturday, Oct. 12 when they host the University of Redlands at 11 a.m.
