AZUSA, CA – The Beavers men's water polo team started their 2013 campaign with four-games in two-days at the annual Citrus Tournament.
Caltech 14, L.A. Tech 6
Overall eight different players found the back of the cage in contributing to the victory. In addition to the multi-goal effort from Skelly and Eck, Tomas Tussie scored two goals in his collegiate debut while Matt Cedeno chipped in a pair of goals.
Ben Grabowski made six saves in front of the net.
San Diego Mesa 10, Caltech 5
In the second game, San Diego Mesa scored the first four goals of the game and never let Caltech closer than a three-goal deficit.
While San Diego Mesa's offense peppered the Beavers defense, Ben Grabowski played well as he made 16 saves.
Chris Bradley had a team high eight shots, three of which found the back of the net. Patric Eck and Jim Blackwood rounded out the scorers for the Beavers.
Santa Monica 11, Caltech 4
Chris Bradley tallied his second straight hat trick but the Corsairs combined solid defense with an efficient offense to produce the win.
Patric Eck tallied the Beavers other goal while also assisting on two other of Bradley's net finders.
Ben Grabowski recorded 12 blocks in front of the net
Citrus 12, Caltech 8
A third period outburst by the Owls broke open the tight game. Citrus held a 4-3 advantage coming out of halftime. The home squad proceeded to outscore the Beavers 5-2 in a the critical third frame to grab the game's momentum and never looked back in grabbing the win.
Jim Blackwood tallied a hat trick to lead the Beavers offense while Connor Lee chipped in a pair of goals.
