CLAREMONT, Calif. (Feb. 2, 2019) – Several Caltech swim & dive men impressed in the penultimate dual meet of the season at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Saturday morning.
Freshman Timothy Yao (Thousand Oaks, Calif. /Dougherty Valley) continued his incredible rookie year with solid tune-up showings in the 100, 500 and 1000 Free. The first-year already holds the eighth-fastest 100 Free in the conference this season and came within 10 seconds of his personal best in the 1000, while sophomore Adam Kogan (Clifton Park, N.Y. / Shenendehowa East) swam his fastest 200 Free since his breakout performance at last year's SCIAC Championships.
Senior Henry Steiner (Petaluma, Calif. Casa Grande) set himself up well for champs in the 200 IM with his first-ever regular-season sub-2:00 split (1:59.46) and posted his best 200 Fly time in over a year at 2:00.59. Rookie Colin Chun (Los Angeles, Calif. / Venice) also proved that last week's 21.50 50 Free relay split was no fluke, notching a 22.09 individual time before leading off the 200 Free Relay with a 22.08. The pair also contributed to the program's second-fastest non-championships 200 Medley Relay time of 1:37.54, alongside sophomore Andy Rothstein (Potomac, Md. / Winston Churchill) and junior Thomas Gallup (Houston, Texas / Phillips Exeter Acad.).
