Sophomore Thomas Gallup (Houston, Texas / Phillips Exeter Academy) and junior Brittany Percin (Lake Tahoe, Calif. / Stanford Online) have each been invited to compete at the national championship meet on the heels of their respective performances at the SCIAC Championships last week. Gallup represented the Beavers last year but Percin will have the opportunity to represent the women this year and become the first female national meet representative since Sue Rosick in 1983 back when swim & dive was an NAIA program. Thus, Percin will go down as the first Caltech woman to compete at the national meet in the NCAA era when she competes in the 500 Free, 200 Free and 200 Fly.

"I am honored to represent Caltech on the national level this year," Percin said. "Our entire team has been working incredibly hard this year and it is exciting to build on our accomplishments from the SCIAC Championship."

Gallup returns to the national meet after last year scoring the first points for Caltech at the national meet since 1983. This year he returns thanks to a standout showing in the 100 Breast and also picked up a win in the 200 Breast at this year's SCIAC Championships for his third SCIAC title in two years. This year he will look to improve on last year's NCAA performance where he took 11th in the 100 Breast.

"I am really excited to head to NCAA's this year and represent Caltech as more than just an individual, but alongside a teammate," Gallup said. "It is amazing to see our presence as a team grow, not only at the SCIAC, but national level as well and I am so proud of all the work this team has done this year!"

The 2018 NCAA Division III National Championships will take place from Mar. 21-24 at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind.
