PASADENA, CA - The Pomona-Pitzer men's soccer team grabbed momentum late in the first half in helping them record a 4-0 win over Caltech on Saturday afternoon.
Caltech's back line defense proved tough to break during most of the first half. The Beavers continued to thwart numerous Sagehen attemps but goalie J.D. Feist stopped the first 10 shots he faced in keeping the scoredboard at 0-0.
With 1:50 left in the half the Sagehens broke through when Arash Mahboubi found the back of the net off a JK Gophakumar feed from in-close. A minute later the visitors made the score 2-0 when Nathan Shekita scored on a penalty kick.
A Voja Maric tally in the 56th minute gave the Sagehens a three-goal edge. The scoring was completed in the 81st minute when Gopakumar was able to knock home a goal after a scramble in front of the net.
Feist played another outstanding game in front of the net for the Beavers as he tallied 11 saves.
