PASADENA (Mar. 14, 2019) – The Caltech baseball team got some offense in spurts against an Ithaca College team that came into Thursday's game with three wins over SCIAC teams under its belt.
Five different Caltech pitchers saw time on the mound, including freshman Ryan Ruscansky (Annandale, N.J. / North Hunterdon), who gave his team two solid innings of relief between the fourth and fifth. The Beavers got on the board for the first time with a pair of runs in the fifth inning. A throwing error by the visiting first baseman allowed freshman three-hole hitter Will Cook to score from third base and senior Connor Moffatt (Charleston, W.Va. / George Washington) to come around from second. Cook's sound baserunning came into play again in the seventh inning when a diversion from sophomore Ari Rosner (Edgewater, Md. / Georgetown Day) on first base allowed the freshman to score from third on the throw. Caltech's final run of the game came in the ensuing inning when sophomore Dillon Holder (New York, NY / Horace Mann) hit a sac fly into deep right field to bring classmate Mitchell Watson (Windsor, Colo. / Windsor) home from third base.
Head Coach Kevin Whitehead and the Beavers will kick off a three-game series at the University of La Verne on Friday, Mar. 22 at 3 p.m.
