Late Scoring Innings Propels CMS

CLAREMONT, CA - The ClaremontMuddScripps baseball team pulled away in the late innings to post a 10-0 win over Caltech on Friday afternoon.

Neither team was able to cross the plate during the game's first three innings. Caltech starter Jerome Skelly held the Stags hitless during those early innings. The Beavers were able to get men into scoring position but couldn't get on the scoreboard.

A Scott Witte two-run homerun in the fourth inning put the home team on the scoreboard. ClaremontMuddScripps added a solo run in the sixth inning when Ray Hurwitz scored an unearned run on a Dustin Green single.

ClaremontMuddScripps put the game away by scoring three runs in the seventh inning then four in the eighth inning.

Stags starting pitcher Andor Kesselman held the Beavers to two hits while striking out nine in earning the complete game win.

Skelly had a solid outing for the Beavers by going 6.2 innings and striking out four while scattering five hits.

The two squads get together on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. for a doubleheader at Caltech's North Field.
