The Caltech women's basketball are pleased to invite the community to "Breast Cancer Awareness Night" on Thursday, February 9, at the Braun Athletic Center. The Beavers face off against the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens at 7:30 p.m. The teams will don pink T-shirts in order to raise awareness about breast cancer and to encourage support of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Fans are asked to also wear pink to show their patronage for the fight against breast cancer.
The Kay Yow Cancer Fund was founded in December of 2007 by Kay Yow, a former North Carolina State University head women's basketball coach. Yow was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987 and finally succumbed to her battle with the disease on January 24, 2009. She created the fund in order to help extend and improve the lives of all those battling cancer. For more information on the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, please visit www.kayyow.com.
