PASADENA (July 8, 2019) - Caltech athletics picked up 175 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Team selections for the 2018-19 academic year, according to this morning's conference release.
The men's soccer team led all Caltech programs with a SCIAC-leading 18 selections (90 percent of the roster), while men's track & field tailed with an impressive 17 overall selections. Men's tennis had the highest overall percentage of the team earn the achievement, with 91 percent of the roster reaching all-academic status. Other notable earners included women's soccer with 15, baseball with 14, women's track & field with 12, women's cross country with 10 and men's cross country with 10. Meanwhile, 27 Caltech student-athletes garnered all-academic honors in multiple sports. The total number of recognized Beavers make up for more than two-thirds of all Caltech athletes.
The SCIAC All-Academic Team recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a grade point average (GPA) of 3.40 or higher and must have completed one full calendar year at their current institution. SCIAC student-athletes demonstrate the NCAA Division III philosophy enabling a full collegiate experience, beyond the arena of competition and the classroom.
