Beaver Harriers Finish 2011 at NCAA Regionals

CLAREMONT, Calif. -- In their final race of the 2011 season the Caltech cross country squads competed at the NCAA West Regional Championships at Pomona-Pitzer.

Jared Forte led the men's squad once again as the first-year covered the 8K course in 26:49 to finish 45th overall. Ian Koss was the second Beaver runner across the finish line with a time of 28:23 just ahead of teammate Eric Martin's time by five seconds.

Michael Zhang finished fourth among Caltech harriers with a time of 28:38 while Juan Adame rounded out the scoring runners with a time of 29:36.

For the third time this season, the male harriers topped fellow league school the University of Redlands. They also beat future SCIAC foe Chapman.

The men's race featured over 750 runners from 20 schools.

Stephanie Reynolds was the top Beaver finisher in the women's race with a time of 24:45. The first-year runner was the best Caltech runner in every race she ran in this season.

Katja Luxem completed her sophomore campaign by running the 6k course in 25:26. Juliette Becker ends her second year by finishing third among Caltech runners as she clipped the tape in 25:48.

In her final race at Caltech, Clara Eng cross the finish line in 26:46 while Marlyn Moore completed the morning's race in 27:32 to round out the Beaver finishers.

For their efforts, the women's squad topped Mills College and Chapman in a race that had nearly 650 runners from 21 schools.
