Beaver Harriers Compete at UC Riverside

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – On Saturday morning the Caltech cross country squad competed in their second event of the 2011 season at the UC Riverside Invitational.

Stephanie Reynolds was the first Beaver runner to finish the 5K women's race. In her second career collegiate race she recorded a time of 19:47.5. Katja Luxem ran a solid race to finish in 20:29.0 to take second place honors among Beaver harriers. Juliette Becker finished a few seconds later as she completed the course in 20:39.

Marlyn Moore (21:34.2) and Clara Eng (21:55.6) rounded out the top five runners for the Beavers.

The women's race featured nearly 250 runners from 19 schools and other unattached individuals.

Andy Zucker took home top honors for the Beavers in the men's 8K race. Zucker completed the course in 27:50.8 which was over a minute than his time at the same race last season. Michael Zhang cross the line just behind Zucker with a time of 27:52.7.

Stan Schor was the Beavers third finisher as the sophomore clipped the tape in 28:42.8. His twin brother, Jon, was just behind him with a time of 29:04.1. Corwin Shiu rounded out the top five Beaver harriers; finshing in 29:30.9.

The men's event had 139 runners from 11 different schools.
