PASADENA (Apr. 11, 2018) – The Caltech women's water polo team recognized its lone senior, Devi Ganapathi (La Crescenta, Calif. / Crescenta Valley) before taking on the University of La Verne in Wednesday's home finale. The senior finished her final game in the Beavers' home pool with four shots and one steal.
The Beavers converted on their lone goal in the first period when junior Gemma Takahashi (San Jose, Calif. / Leland) turned a Leopards' steal into a steal of her own before quickly dishing to sophomore Mackenzie Wooten (Las Vegas, Nev. / Northwest Career and Technical Academy) for the point-blank goal. Takahashi also went a perfect 4-for-4 on sprints and while accumulating two steals and leading the team with five shots over the course of the 32-minute game. Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Kreider (River Forest, Ill. / Oak Park and River Forest) also managed one of her best games of the season, making nine saves while picking up two steals while hold the Leopards to just 11 goals.
Head Coach Jon Bonafede and the Beavers will travel to Chapman University for its penultimate game of the season on Saturday, Apr. 14 at 11 a.m.
