PASADENA (Mar. 7, 2018) – Junior Gemma Takahashi (San Jose, Calif. / Leland) put together her most productive defensive game against visiting Occidental College on Wednesday, the Beavers' second home game in as many days.
The junior utilized her speed to the tune of four steals without being given an exclusion. Takahashi also scored the Beavers' first goal of the game in the third period when she swam a loose ball all the way into the net for a short-range strike. She further used her speed to win her team two out of four sprints. Caltech's other goal came later in the period when sophomore Mackenzie Wooten (Las Vegas, Nev. / Northwest Career and Technical Academy) retrieved a pass from junior Katie Johnston (Livermore, Calif. / Livermore) and tossed an accurate shot into the left side of the net for the Beavers' final goal of the game. The sophomore also led all players with an additional eight shots.
Head Coach Jon Bonafede and the Beavers will resume SCIAC play on Saturday, Mar. 10 when they travel to the University of Redlands for an 11 a.m. game.
