PASADENA, CA – Pomona-Pitzer scored a flurry of goals early en route to a 20-4 win over Caltech in a SCIAC women's water polo contest on Saturday afternoon.
The Sagehens scored 11 goals in the first half and held the Caltech offense scoreless. Pomona-Pitzer scored four goals to start the third period before the Beavers got on the board when Soumya Kannan found the back of the cage. The teams traded the final two goals of the period as Pomona-Pitzer held a 16-2 lead going into the final stanza.
Hanna Dodd scored the Beavers two goals in the fourth period while Pomona-Pitzer put the ball in the back of the cage four times.
Pomona-Pitzer's Katy Schafer had a six-goal afternoon while Crissie Alving-Trinh chipped in a four-goal effort.
In addition to Dodd and Kannann's effort Karen Dowling scored as well for Caltech.
Rachel Moore started in goal for the second straight game for the Beavers where she had seven blocks.
Caltech's final home game of the season is Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. when they face-off with Redlands.
