PASADENA, CA – A strong start for the Connecticut College women's water polo team was enough as they posted an 11-4 win over Caltech on Thursday evening.
The Camels jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first period. The two teams traded a goal in the second quarter. Connecticut scored with 5:51 left in the frame before Hanna Dodd found the back the net for Caltech's first goal with less than 90 seconds left in the stanza.
Down 5-1 at the halfway point of the contest, Caltech played the Camels evenly in the second half of the contest. The third period saw the Beavers score twice as Dodd and Kannann each tallied a goal. Connecticut got on the board three times in keeping a comfortable cushion heading in the final quarter.
Dodd completed her hat trick by scoring the Beavers lone goal in the frame. The senior has four hat tricks in 10 games this season.
Connie Hsueh blocked 11 shots for the Beavers. The sophomore has blocked 10 or more shots in six games.
Connecticut's offense was paced by Kelsey Millward's three goal effort.
The Beavers have off until March 26 when they host Whittier in their SCIAC home opener.
