WHITTIER, Calif.- The Caltech Women's Water Polo team opens the SCIAC Championship on Friday at 5:30 PM against regular season champion Pomona-Pitzer.
The Beavers will play three games in the three day tournament which is being hosted by Whittier College. The schedule for the remaining games will be determined by results on the first day of action.
Caltech enters the tournament as the 8th seed in the conference. The team finished the season with three victories; defeating Penn State-Behrend, Vanguard, and VMI.
The team lost its only matchup with Pomona-Pitzer, 15-6. They fell behind early in the match and were never able to recover.
Caltech is led by junior Hannah Dodd who has 39 Goals, 16 Assists, and 47 steals on the season. Erin Hoops and Caitlin Regan are the next two highest scoring members of the team, and both have easily topped 20 goals this season. Netminder Connie Hsueh has been fantastic for the Beavers, blocking 202 shots this season.
Coach Josh Moser says "We have been working hard and we are going to play four quarters at a time and finish off the season right."
