PASADENA, Calif. -- The Caltech women's water polo season concluded the home portion of their schedule by dropping a 16-5 decision to Occidental on Wednesday afternoon.
The third-ranked Tigers jumped out by scoring the game's first four goals. The Beavers put their first tally on the board when Regan founded the back of the net with 2:10 left in the period. However, the visitors responded with two straight goals to close out the first eight minutes of the contest.
A Hoops goal with 6:19 left until intermission brought the Beavers deficit down to 6-2. Occidental responded on their next possession to put their lead back to five goals. A valient Caltech squad got a goal from Hanna Dodd with just under five minutes left in the period to get back within a four-goal deficit. Occidental scored four unanawersed goals to close the period in taking a commanding 11-3 lead at the halfway point.
Any hopes of a Caltech comeback were put away in the third period as Occidental outscored the Beavers 3-0 in the frame.
The final period was played to a draw as each team found the back of the net twice. Hoops scored her second goal of the game while Dodd scored the final goal of the home campaign for Caltech.
Lindsay Albino had a hat trick to lead the Occidental effort. The Tigers had 11 different players scored a goal.
Connie Hsueh played another solid game in goal for Caltech as she recorded 11 blocks.
