PASADENA (Oct, 28, 2017) – Sophomore outside hitting pair Alexa Lauinger (Ortonville, Mich. / Brandon) and Lauren Li (Bellaire, Texas / Bellaire) each had 10 kills for Caltech volleyball against visiting Life Pacific College on Saturday.
Li particularly continued an impressive stretch where she followed up a .438 kill percentage game against Chapman University with a .421 day against the Warriors. She only missed twice and utilized sets from sophomores Mei-Ling Laures (Chicago, Ill. / British International School of Chicago) and Ellie Walker (Minneapolis, Minn. / Blake School) to pepper the Warriors with effective point-ending shots. Lauinger's 10 kills moved her closer to milestone territory. With Saturday's effort, she surpassed her own total from last year and is just eight kills behind Colleen Moody '03 for the Caltech single-season record with one game to play. Her 363 total kills currently have her fourth on the program's career kills list as well.
Head Coach Tom Gardner and the Beavers will complete their history-making 2017 season when they travel to West Coast Baptist for a rematch of the team's first game of the season on Halloween. The Beavers won the prior meeting in straight sets.
