Vetrivel Paces Volleyball at No. 23 La Verne

La Verne, Calif. (Oct. 3, 2015) – Freshman Subhadra Vetrivel (Redmond, Wash. / Overlake School) recorded a team-high  five kills and seven digs as the Caltech volleyball team fell, 3-0, at No. 23 University of La Verne on Saturday afternoon.

The Leopards continued their winning streak, improving to 12-2 overall and 8-1 in the SCIAC while the Beavers dip to 0-12 (0-7).

The Beavers had their moments against the top-ranked Leopards, scoring nine points in the first set, which included a three-point rally. But La Verne came to play in the second, recording a match-best .526 hitting percentage which helped to sweep the match by scores 25-9, 25-7 and 25-9.

Vetrivel recorded five kills and seven digs while senior Meghana Pagadala (Rock Island, Ill. / Rivermont Collegiate) recorded two kills and five digs. The Beavers were without kills leader senior Cat Jamshidi (Burke, Va. / Lake Braddock Secondary School).

Head Coach Tom Gardner and the Beavers will head to Whittier College (11-5, 3-3) on Tuesday, Oct. 6.
