The first weekend of October saw the Beavers face two teams looking to finish among the top four in the SCIAC and qualify for the conference's post-season championships.
With the top four in the league standing vying for that elusive spot, Caltech tangled with Whittier and Cal Lutheran.

An efficient offensive effort for the home team paced them to a 25-4, 25-4, 25-17 win on Friday evening.
The Poets had 17 team kills in the first set en route to tallying a .607 hitting percentage. They rode that momentum to the sweep. Whittier finished with 38 kills and .400 hitting mark. Alayna Rigo had a match high nine kills to pace the Poets offense.
Catherine Jamshidi contributed a seven-kill effort for the Beavers.

The nation's fifth ranked team put together a team effort as they had 47 total kills while hitting .519 as a team. The trio of Dianna Rohrer, Caitlin Fransen and Hannah Orlandi each had seven kills to pace the visitors offense.
The Beavers offense was led by Catherine Jamshidi and Rebekah Kitto as the duo each had five kills.
