WOMEN'S TENNIS

Mandy Gamble enters her seventh season as Head Coach of the Caltech Beaver's men's and women's tennis teams. She has made significant strides in bringing both Caltech tennis programs up to a higher competitive level.

Gamble was named Head Coach of the men's and women's tennis programs in January of 2002 after having serving as the Beaver's assistant coach in 2001.   Once at the helm, Gamble lead the Beavers men's squad to its most successful season in the programs history by going on a 6-1 winning streak.  During her tenure at Caltech Gamble lead the men's team to a NCAA DIII West Regional Ranking of 16, a 5th place finish in the Southern California Athletic Conference (SCIAC), as well as two All Conference selections.

The women's program under Coach Gamble's has been equally as successful.  The women's team earned a #23 regional ranking and had a player reach an ITA National ranking of 47 and regional ranking of 9, as well as two first team All Conference selections.

Gamble takes great pride in her student athletes, "Since I've been at Tech I'm most proud about having both teams recognized as ITA All Academic Teams and nine student-athletes nominated as ITA Scholar Athletes.  To compete in intercollegiate athletics at an Institution with such an emphasis on academics it is truly rewarding to see student-athletes successful at both."

In 2002 Coach Gamble along with both the Men and Women's Tennis teams and the entire Caltech Athletic Department were awarded the most distinguished honor - an induction into the National Sportsmanship Hall of Fame in Newport Rhode Island. Coach Gamble is also the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) liaison and works with students to create an academic community that reflects their goals.  Gamble also teaches Physical Education courses in the Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation Department.  

After playing professional tennis, Gamble returned to college at Cal State LA where she earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in communication studies while competing for the Golden Eagles (B.A. 1995 and M.A. 1997). Gamble was a four-year letter winner for the Golden Eagles and received both Academic and All American honors during her college playing career.  Gamble was coached by the Southern California coaching legend, Robert Lansdorp and is also a P1 United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) teaching professional.
