READING, Penn. (Sept. 13, 2017) – Freshman midfielders Krystin Brown (Lake Forest, Calif. / Trabuco Hills) and Netra Ravishankar (Fremont, Calif. / American) scored the first two goals in the history of Caltech Women's Soccer Wednesday at Alvernia University.

Brown's goal came just under two minutes into the second half while the Beavers were on the attack following a corner kick from junior midfielder Hana Keller (Sammamish, Wash. / Tesla STEM). The Golden Wolves attempted to clear to the zone but Brown quickly retook possession and fired a strike off her right foot to the left side of the net. She then proceeded to be mobbed by her teammates. Ravishankar's goal came in the 76th minute on a pass from senior forward Caroline Atyeo (Parkland, Fla. / Marjory Stoneman Douglas). With the first two goals in program history out of the way, the Beavers can breath easy and perhaps generate more scoring chances in the games to come.

Alvernia did most of its damage in the first half but the Caltech defense held strong in the second half, holding the Golden Wolves to just one goal and outscoring them in the frame. Sophomore Megan Durney (Escondido, Calif. / Escondido Charter) made four saves for the Beavers. The Caltech offense also accounted for a program-best seven shots on goal, four from Ravishankar, two from Brown and one from sophomore MacKenzie Wooten (Las Vegas, Nev. / Northwest Career and Technical Academy).

Head Coach Taylor Houck and the Beavers will wrap up their Eastern Pennsylvania road trip with an exhibition at Harcum College in Bryn Mawr before returning to Pasadena on Monday, September 25 to host the University of La Verne.
