Women's Soccer Releases Inaugural Schedule

PASADENA (June 6, 2017) – The Caltech women's soccer team has released its inaugural schedule, with the team set to play its first intercollegiate game in history on Friday, Sept. 1 at the University of Redlands.

Meet the Team: Recruit Release Thursday, June 8

Following the season opener, Caltech will host its first intercollegiate women's soccer game on Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 4 p.m. against Chapman University and conclude the two-game home stand against Occidental College on Thursday, Sept. 7 at 5 p.m.

Head Coach Taylor Houck will take the team to Philadelphia, Pa. to face Alvernia College, a member of the Middle Atlantic Conference, and Harcum College, a National Junior College Athletics Association member, on Sept. 13 and 16.  Because Harcum is not a four-year degree-granting institution, the latter game will be counted as an exhibition.

The Beavers return home to host the University of La Verne, which finished bottom of the conference at 3-15 overall and 2-12 in SCIAC play last season, on Monday, Sept. 25 at 4 p.m.  Defending regular season conference champions Pomona-Pitzer Colleges welcome Caltech the following week on Oct. 2, after which the Beavers will take on Whittier College on Oct. 9.

Caltech hosts its final non-conference opponent, La Sierra University, on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 3 p.m. and plays its final road game at Cal Lutheran University on Oct. 16.  The Beavers conclude their season hosting the defending SCIAC tournament champions, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 1 p.m.

Caltech will play a shortened schedule during Fall 2017, with only one game against each conference opponent.  Those games will not count toward conference standings; the Beavers will play a full Division III schedule and be eligible for the SCIAC Championship in 2018.
