Saturday, April 5th - Fresh off of spring break, the Caltech
Track and Field teams had a big day at the Pomona-Pitzer
Invitational. Highlights of the day include Rene Davis'
breaking two school records. The first record came in the
high jump when she cleared the bar at 5'- 2 ¼". This
jump now puts her in the #1 spot on the SCIAC top 10 list. Davis
then went on to break the record in the long jump with a best jump
of 16'- 7 ¾" putting her in the top 5 on the SCIAC top ten
list. She also had personal bests in the 100HH (18.22)and the
200m (28.18) She also was a part of both relay teams. Davis is now
ranked #1 in SCIAC in the High Jump and #4 in the Long
Jump.
Elette Boyle tied the Caltech record in the Pole Vault at
10'0. Elette also had a season best mark in the Triple Jump
with a jump of 33' -5 3/4", she is now ranked in the top 10 in
SCIAC in High Jump, Triple Jump and Pole Vault.
Junior, Sierra Petersen had a PR in the 800m with a time of
2:33.17 and sophomore, Bettine Chen ran a PR in the 400n with
a time of 65.98.
Katherine Breeden ran a PR in the 5000 with a time of 19:57.33.
Freshman Perrin Considine ran the 3000m steeple chase for the
first time as a collegian with a time of 14:04.64, which
put her in the #4 spot on the Caltech All-Time Top 10 list.
The 4X100m relay team improved their time by one second with a
team of Rene Davis, Tencia Lee, Bettina Chen, and Deboki
Chakravarti, their new time of 53.83 ranks them in the #5 spot in
SCIAC.
On the men's side, Senior Matt Kiesz ran a season PR of 3:58.71
and he continues to hold his #1 spot in SCIAC, Kiesz placed
6th in a field of 68 runners. Tom Rose threw Javelin 112' 1"
to move him into the #10 spot on the CIT All-Time Top 10 list.
There were several other personal records in the sprints, they
include the following Beavers in the 100m Dash: Alan
Pezeshiki 12.13, Alex Lapides 11.69, Matt Dellatorre 12.77, and
Yezdan Badrakhan 11.60.
Coach Julie Levesque was very pleased with the outcome of this
meet, "We are coming into our own and online to be be very
competitive in SCIAC this year" commented Levesque.
