THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – In a SCIAC dual swimming/diving meet on Saturday afternoon, California Lutheran posted wins in 23 of the 26 events as they knocked off the Caltech men's and women's squad. The Kingsmen won the men's meet by a 142-89 tally while the Regals won 172-64 on the women's side.
The bright spot for the Beavers once again proved to be the divers as Justin Johnson won both the one- and three-meter competitions. In every diving event he has competed in this season, he has won. The junior posted a score of 228.05 in the one-meter event which beat out team mate Wade Hann-Caruthers (185.15) for first place. The duo finished first and second respectively in the three-meter event. Johnson recorded a tally of 208.85 with Hann-Caruthers scoring 183.70.
Peter Buhler continued his solid run in the 100 yard backstroke. He won the event for the third time in a SCIAC dual meet with a time of 57.90 which nudged out California Lutheran's Conrad Sheffer by almost a half-second.
The women's meet saw more solid results for the Beaver divers. Jessica Swallow continued her improved diving as she finished second in both diving events. The junior scored 141.20 points in the three-meter event while recording 149.45 points in the one-meter competition. Timi Kosztin placed third in each event by scoring 141.20 and 138.40 in the three- and one-meter events respectively.
Karen Dowling finished second in the 1000 yard freestyle swim with a time of 14:45.69. Janis Intoy enjoyed a second place finish in the 200 IM (2:38.45).
